Board games is a great choice if you want something to keep the kids or adults entertained on game night. There are many options, from party games that will fit multiple players to competitive games designed for a two-person group.

There are also plenty of brain-teasers and genius-level challenges for those with a knack for wordplay. If you’re looking to foster spelling and reading skills in younger children or hone critical thinking skills with all the adults in your life, there is a game here for everyone.

Rummikub

Rummikub is one of those classic board games that has stood the test of time. It combines elements of rummy (card game), dominoes, and mahjong in an exciting mix that is fun for the whole family.

It is also a great strategic game. Players take turns placing numbered tiles in runs and groups, rummy style.

There are 104 numbered tiles in four colors (red, yellow, blue, and black) with two jokers that are wild and can replace any tile.

The first player to empty their tray wins a round. The rest of the game is played clockwise, with each player taking turns to place their numbered tiles.

Risk

Risk is one of the most well-known wargames, a strategy game that’s dominated the tabletop scene for decades. It is a fun game for any age and a great way to test your skills against your friends.

There are many editions and variants of Risk, with many themed around popular media franchises like Star Wars or The Lord of the Rings. It is also a good choice for seasoned board gamers, as the rules are simple and easy to learn.

In Risk, players take turns moving their troops into territories adjacent to the one they occupy. They also spend resources and tax opponents. Battles are fought with dice, and players can backstab each other and make secret alliances to gain the most victory points at the end of the game.

Pop-O-Matic

There are many board games out there, but one that has caught my eye is Pop-O-Matic. This is a simple device encased in a crystal clear plastic dome that entombs a six-sided die and two metal sheets.

In this game, you must get all four of your pegs around the board to win. But be careful! If you bump any of your opponent’s pieces, you’re in TROUBLE and will have to move that peg back to the beginning!

The best thing about this game is that it can be played by 2, 3, or 4 players. You also have a choice of the classic or a newer version with Power Up spaces that give you even more chances to get lucky!

Taboo

Suppose you are looking for a game that will bring your friends together and leave them laughing for hours; look no further than Taboo! This word and guessing game has been around for decades and is simple enough for everyone to play.

It’s also an excellent game for families because it’s a lot of fun and teaches children about word games.

The game involves describing a word on a card to your teammates without using five different common words listed on the card. The opposing partners watch a timer and buzz the player describing if one of the off-limits words is used or if the describing player makes any gestures.

The team that gets the most cards wins! It’s an exciting game that’ll have you on the edge of your seat!

Cards Against Humanity

Cards Against Humanity is one of the adults’ most popular party board games. It is easy to play and delivers big laughs.

It is also great for getting your friends together for a game night. Make sure everyone is mature enough to handle intentionally offensive topics and answers.

If you’re looking for something that’s less vulgar than Cards Against Humanity, check out What Do You Meme? It is a techy card game that asks players to match captions to internet memes.

It cannot be very clear at first, but once you get the hang of it, it is much fun! You can also find themed expansion packs for this classic, which will keep it fresh. It costs about $25 and can be purchased from most brick-and-mortar or online stores.
